April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and piano lessons which ignited her passion for songwriting. At the age of 12 April composed her first single Different. When she was 14 April devoted a great deal of time to making song lyrics and working on her musical skills. The songwriting began along with her dad in NY and LA shortly after. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in Take My Hand for the people in her life who are struggling with peer pressure, disabilities or even suicidal thoughts. Lockhart works in partnerships at famous clean beauty brand Ilia and also is an influencer in the lifestyle industry who has a growing fan base. Born without a left hand, Lockhart is an important part of her. It's however not the entire tale. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability in her posts on Instagram, however she does not make it the main focus of her story. What message is it sending? We are all more than the physical person we are. Our identities are complicated and encompass a variety of elements. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance is what defines my character. I don't intend to influence disabilities because I've got plenty to offer." However, it doesn't affect my day-to-day routine. I do the normal things and I've adapted to my disabilities. But it's also a part of me so I think that it's crucial to speak about. Lockhart has served as an excellent source of inspiration for her female friends regarding acceptance of oneself. Lockhart admits to having been through phases in her life with her physique, feeling uncomfortable in certain situations wearing clothing that displayed her arms. Today, she wears anything she'd like. And she posts pictures on social networks. What makes self-love so appealing to her is the fact that it's not a goal. It's a journey, I'm not sure you'll ever reach your destination. It's important to be surrounded by those who are able to understand your.
